RESOURCE kits on the (Geneva Conventions }rrcduced by the Queensland Department of Education in conjunction with the Red Cross were launched by Education, Youth and Sport Minister Brian Littleproud today.
He said it was appropriate that the launch should be at the Nepalese Peace Pagoda at the World Expo 88 site.
The kits, one for primary and one for secondary schools, are titled "International Humanitarian Law and the Red Cross".
"The kits comprise a video, brochures and a comprehensive resource package with a variety of activities for schoolchildren of all ages," Mr Littleproud said.
"The kit, which covers important information on the four Geneva Conventions and rules governing behaviour in war, will be distributed to State and some non-state schools in Queensland.
"The Red Cross, which performs such a valuable role in communi ties all over the world, is custodian of the conventions. "
A highlight of the launch was presentation by young singers of "Love in Any Language" and "Put A Little Love In Your Heart".
Queensland Red Cross chairman Dr Nick Nicolaides was chairman of the launch function.
