Summary

Part of a package of five bills to implement the Northern Territory National Emergency Response, the bill: effects restrictions on the possession, consumption, sale and transportation of liquor; establishes a scheme to prevent and detect misuse of publicly funded computers located in certain prescribed areas; provides for the immediate and later acquisition of five-year leases over certain Aboriginal townships; provides for the management of government activities and assets in business management areas; implements 2006 Council of Australian Government decisions relating to the treatment of violence or sexual abuse, and bail and sentencing discretion; introduces a licensing regime for community stores in Indigenous communities; and modifies Northern Territory legislation.
