HIGH COMMISSIONER IN ZIMBABWE

Mr Jeremy Hearder, 43 whose appointment as Australia's first High Commissioner to Zimbabwe was announced in Salisbury by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, on 18 April, is a career diplomat with 21 years' experience-

The announcement, on Zimbabwe's Independence Day, means that Australia was one of the first countries to have formally established diplomatic relations with the new republic from the day of its accession to Independence-

Mr Hearder, who will take up his appointment in Salisbury soon, is at present Senior Foreign Affairs Representative in Sydney = He has served in Vientiane, Dar-Es-Salaam, Bangkok, Nairobi and Brussels = He is a graduate of the University of Melbourne and is married with five children-
