Students and staff at St Patrick’s School in Nhill will benefit from an Australian Government grant of $75,000 under the Investing in our Schools Programme, The Nationals Federal Member for Mallee, John Forrest MP announced today.

Mr Forrest said the grant would be used to upgrade pathways, shading, seating, shelter, fencing and an oval.

“This is fantastic news,” said Miss Tracey Burgess, Principal of St Patrick’s. “I would like to thank Mr Forrest for his support of the project on behalf of the school community.”

“We have a very dedicated community council and parent group that put a lot of time and effort into our great school. This money will allow the community council to complete a number of projects around the school that they have been working very hard towards. The funds will really finish off the school grounds nicely, enhancing the

fantastic facilities that we have here in Leahy Street, Nhill,” stated Miss Burgess.

Mr Forrest said the Investing in our Schools Programme is an exciting new initiative which delivers much needed funds to less well-off public and independent schools in North West Victoria.

“It is always pleasing to see funds directed towards grass roots projects such as this that benefit children in such a practical way,” said Mr Forrest “and the Australian Government recognises the importance of providing schools with facilities that will enhance the education and well being of students.”
