Canning MHR Don Randall was pleased confirm that students in Armadale wishing to study for a Bachelor of Education can now apply for mid-year entry to Curtin University of Technology.

The Bachelor of Education program is designed to blend practical skills and theory relevant to teaching children in their formative years and is being offered as a part-time evening program in semester two which begins in August.

Thanks to 55 additional Commonwealth funded places over the next three years, the Centre for Regional Education will deliver this course in Armadale on behalf of the main Curtin University campus in Bentley.

Mr Randall was delighted that students in Armadale have been given this great opportunity and encouraged all interested students to contact 1300 730 897 for course details and further information on how to apply.

Applications close on 15 July 2005.

Curtin University and the Armadale Redevelopment Authority identified the recently decommissioned St Francis Xavier School as a location to host the program.

St Francis Xavier has also been identified as the site for a prospective Australian Technical College which Mr Randall is strongly supporting.

“The eastern and south-eastern corridors of Perth have been poorly served in terms of training and education facilities. I am pleased to see these positive steps towards providing more for our students and the area as a whole,” Mr Randall said.

“I will continue to push for a Technical College in my electorate and support the work the City of Armadale and Armadale Redevelopment Authority are doing to make this a reality.”

Mr Randall congratulated Curtin University for providing students in the Armadale area the chance to get their foot in the door and again encouraged interested students to apply as soon as possible.
