“Coalition Supports Visas for Iraqi’s who have assisted our troops”

The Coalition Shadow Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Ellison today welcomed the Australian Government’s announcement of a new humanitarian visa for Iraqi employees, including translators and interpreters, who have supported Australian troops in Iraq.

“The Coalition strongly supports this announcement. If someone stands by our Australian troops we look after them. We don't leave them high and dry," said Senator Ellison.

"The crucial issue here is that these people are being targeted because they gave our troops assistance," said Senator Ellison.

"It is right and fair that Australia stand by them to look after them and their families," said Senator Ellison.
