GARETH REPUDIATES LABOR’S SCARE CAMPAIGN

Gareth Evans yesterday repudiated Labor’s scare campaign on the GST by admitting that everything will not go up by 10% as they have been claiming.

On Brisbane Extra last night Mr Evans said:

“For some grocery items yes there’s a wholesale sales tax at the moment, yes that com es off and that means that overall there’s not necessarily ten percent on everything...”

After five weeks of running the biggest scare campaign since 1993 Gareth Evans has finally admitted the truth — that everything will not go up by ten percent.

The Go vernment’s economic modelling shows that the overall impact of the GST is just 1.9% and that people are more than compensated by significant tax cuts.

Bob Hogg, the architect of Labor’s 1993 scare campaign revealed on the weekend that Labor had to run a scare campaign then because they “had bugger all to run on”.

In 1998 the Labor Party has exactly the same problem, no policies just a promise of 53 reviews and a massive scare campaign that Gareth Evans has now admitted is based on a lie.
