CHRIS PEARCE MP Federal Member for Aston

Media Release

Aston MP Chris Pearce today congratulated Scoresby Primary School on being recognised in the 2003 National Awards for Quality Schooling.

Scoresby Primary School was one of sixteen schools nationwide to be awarded a prize for outstanding achievement. The prize of $24,000 was awarded to Scoresby Primary School in the area of School Leadership.

“Our children’s future rests largely in the hands of our schools, teachers and school leaders and these awards celebrate their outstanding work on behalf of their students”, Mr Pearce said.

Winners including Scoresby Primary School underwent a rigorous assessment process with judges looking for demonstrated success in the priority areas of literacy and numeracy, safe school environments, school leadership, values education, or innovation in science, mathematics and technology.

The Awards are linked to the Australian Government’s $1.2 million National Quality Schooling Framework, which is a web-based education resource offering schools proven approaches to getting the best out of students.

“The Australian Government is strongly committed to ensuring that every child is encouraged to reach full potential. These awards recognise the outstanding achievement of schools like Scoresby Primary School in making a genuine difference to our children’s education and development”, Mr Pearce said.
