Excellent outcomes for job seekers are the standout message from the latest Job Network performance ratings, released today by The Nationals Federal Member for Mallee, John Forrest.

The Star Ratings system measures and compares the performance of Job Network members in placing job seekers into jobs. Released every six months, the ratings range from a minimum of ‘1 Star’, indicating room for improvement, to a maximum of ‘5 Stars’, reflecting excellent performance.

Mr Forrest said the Star Ratings were used by job seekers and employers to make more informed decisions about choosing a Job Network member in their local area. “The latest Star Ratings show that Job Network is performing well in North West Victoria. Overall, local providers are helping more job seekers find employment.

“In 2005 the Job Network in the Mallee electorate placed 10,579 people into jobs.

“The majority of Job Network members in the electorate have maintained their positive Star Rating or increased it. I want to congratulate the Job Network members on their achievements,” Mr Forrest said.

“The most important criterion for gaining a high Star Rating is placing the maximum possible number of job seekers into jobs.”

“In calculating the Star Ratings, an extra degree of importance is given to placing highly disadvantaged job seekers. This includes very long-term unemployed, mature age and Indigenous job seekers.”

In 2005, Job Network recorded a total of 657,000 job placements, and more than 188,000 long-term jobs were achieved for disadvantaged job seekers and those unemployed for more than three months - both are new annual records.

“The Government is committed to helping any Australian who wants to work find a job. Our Star Ratings measurement system shows the Job Network is working very well at getting unemployed Australians into work and the Government is dedicated to ensuring this continues,” Mr Forrest said.
