Greens will campaign for Radio National

The Australian Greens will campaign in and outside parliament against moves to close the ABC's Radio National, Greens Senator Bob Brown said today.

"In an age of the six-second grab and superficiality, Radio National offers Australians analysis and depth on current affairs, politics, the arts, health, law and other key aspects of life in the 21st century," Senator Brown said.

"In a world where information is the currency of democracy, Radio National is pure gold. Moves to axe it will create distress and an angry reaction directed at the government, which has cut the budget.

"We will give notice of motion defending Radio National in the Senate tomorrow," Senator Brown said.
