Commonwealth Government allocates $900,000 to Narrogin Senior High School Friday, 9 June 2006

Students and staff at Narrogin Senior High School will benefit from an Australian Government grant of $906,000 for a new building project, according to Member for Pearce Hon Judi Moylan MP. Ms Moylan announced today that the Capital Grants Program funding will be used for the construction of a new design and technology facility. “The new facilities will help the school to provide the best possible learning environment for students in the region,” she said. “I would like to congratulate principal Brian Lange and the staff and students at Narrogin Senior High School on their successful application.” This project was jointly funded by the State and Federal Governments. Ms Moylan said that in 2006, $278 million would be allocated nationally through the Capital Grants Program for our nation’s schools. More than $28 million of this total has been set aside for Western Australia. This program particularly focuses on improving the scholastic outcomes of educationally disadvantaged students, she explained. During the 2005-08 period the Government is injecting $33 billion in direct funding to Australian schools and school students through a variety of programs. “This demonstrates the Government’s commitment to a strong and effective school system and to maximising the opportunities for young Australians,” she said.
