Member for Pearce Hon Judi Moylan MP is calling for nominations for the annual Australian Government Sport Achievement Awards for 2006, for Pearce. Ms Moylan has been presenting these awards for several years. She said the awards recognised the valuable contribution individuals have made to sport in the Pearce Electorate. “In the past, nominees have been recognised for long-

service or commitment to their sporting club, group or team. People have also been awarded for sporting excellence, good sportsmanship and volunteering as umpires, coaches and organisers,” she said. “The wellbeing of local communities relies to a large extent on the commitment and contribution of its citizens. “We are fortunate in Pearce to have so many people who are interested in the social and health benefits participating in sport provides and for our dedicated volunteers.” Last year awardees were acknowledged for service to various sports including - tennis, netball, little athletics, football, clay shooting, karate and swimming.
