Brown condemns massive burnoff.

Australian Greens leader Senator Brown has condemned the massive regeneration burns by Forestry Tasmania today as an assault on the health and environment of the Tasmanian public.

"It is deplorable that there is no baseline study on the health and environmental damage being done. A responsible authority would have baseline studies on health, such as asthma attacks in children. There should also be an impact study of the damage to Tasmanian lifestyles at a time of the year when Tasmania's clean air and scenery are arguably at their best.

"It is culpable that the enhancement of global warming caused by these fires is not measured at all," Senator Brown said.
