Federal Member for Eden-Monaro today congratulated Cooma Call Centre for playing an important role in the Australian Government’s regional information service. The centre will operate the national call service for organisations listed in the 2005 Australian Government Regional Information Directory.

The free directory, recently launched by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport and Regional Services, John Anderson, and the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport and Regional Services, John Cobb, provides an information link between people living in regional area and people in major cities.

“Feedback tells me the staff at the Cooma Call Centre do a wonderful job in assisting people who ring in for regional information. Congratulations to them, they do an invaluable job,” Mr Anderson said.

Mr Nairn believes the call centre is an asset to his electorate and is pleased it has been recognised by the Australian Government.

“In launching the new directory John Anderson has congratulated staff operating the information phone lines at Cooma Call Centre,” Mr Nairn said.

Manager of the Cooma Call Centre, Christine Harris, was delighted to be involved as part of a directory which will be used across the country by businesses, advisers and not-for-profit organisations.

“It is great to be included and recognised through the Australian Government directory. The call centre component of the service is run by regional Australians, here in Cooma, for regional Australians,” Mrs Harris said.
