Record number of nominations for Work for the Dole Achievement Awards

Work for the Dole projects, participants and supervisors in northern Queensland have received recognition with 15 nominations received for this year’s Work for the Dole Achievement Awards.

A record 410 nominations have been submitted from across Australia for participants, supervisors and projects in this highly successful programme.

Employment Services Minister Mal Brough said the large number of high quality nominations have recognise the positive contributions that Work for the Dole makes to local communities and job seekers.

“I congratulate all nominees in the running for this year’s Awards. Work for the Dole gives job seekers real work experience and has a positive impact on many participants’ lives,” Mr Brough said.

The judging process now begins, with winners to be decided in three award categories - best participant; best supervisor; and best activity.

The awards will be presented later this year at a dinner hosted by the Minister in the Great Hall of Parliament House.
