Hartsuyker confirms equipment grant for Woolgoolga Wires

The excellent community work of Woolgoolga Wires has received a welcome boost through the awarding of an Australian Government grant.

The Federal Member form Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker, has announced the club will receive a grant of $3,025 to purchase a possum traps, nets and tanks.

Mr Hartsuyker confirmed the grant during a meeting with club members Diane Ward and Carol Johnson.

“Woolgoolga Wires does a tremendous job in helping nurture sick and injured animals,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“However while they continue to deliver for our local communities there is always the challenge to raise extra funds for vital equipment.

“This funding will assist Woolgoolga Wires in a very small way but it will allow them to continue to focus on the safety of swimmers and the development of more young life savers.”

Mr Hartsuyker said funding for the club was awarded under the Australian Government’s Volunteer Small Equipment Grants programme.

Woolgoolga Wires was one of two animal welfare groups in the Cowper electorate to receive a small equipment grant, with the Clarence Valley Wildlife Information and Rescue Service also securing a grant.

Mr Hartsuyker said the aim of the Volunteers Small Equipment grants is to provide assistance so community groups can continue their their invaluable work.
