KIRRIBILLI ROW: DEMOCRATS CALL FOR CODE OF CONDUCT The Democrats have called for a formal code of conduct signed off by all parties, following new reports that the taxpayer picked up the tab for a dinner attended by Young Liberals and hosted by the Prime Minister at the Lodge last October.

“”Taxpayer funded is not code for party-free-for-all”, Senator Allison said today. “Clearly the Parliament, Kirribilli House and the Lodge are out of bounds for party fundraising purposes. But there are some areas of grey. At what point does a meeting and a coffee become an event of the party organisation? This whole saga would be assisted by a concrete set of rules stating exactly what is acceptable and what is not when using publicly funded facilities.”

The Democrats will put the matter to a vote when the Senate resumes this week.

Senator Allison is available for comment.
