Prestigious international award for federal campaign

The Federal Government's Regional Heardquarters (RHQ) Campaign has been recognised as the World's best investment marketing promotion, Industry Minister, Senator Peter Cook, has announced.

The Award "Best Campaign Award for Excellence 1994" was presented at the Fifth Annual Meeting of Investment Promotion Agencies in Amsterdam.

Australia's Ambassador to the Hague, Michael Tate, accepted the award from Corporate location - an internatinal investment consultancy owned by Euromoney.

Past recipients of the award have included the Senate of Illinois Power Corporation, Lincoln City Council and the Welsh Development Agency.

"The RQH promotion was a world- class campaign for a waorld- class product." Senataor Cook said.

"The Award is a significant achievement against international competiton," he said.

"It gives further international recognition to Australia'a investment promotion activities.

"A major element of the campaign was the Australia Your Business Location in Asia publication, which details the cost, infrastrature and lifestyle advantages Australia enjoys as a regional headquarters location.

"Key Australian CEO's have made a major contribution to the success of the RHQ campaign, through the private sector RHQ leaders network - coordinated by Australian Coalition of Service Industries and Telstra.

"Companies targeted by the campaign that have recently established regional headquarters in Australia include, Lexmark, Tandem, Data General, Novell, IBM, Edelman, Hella, the Campbell Soup Company and Oracle," Senator Cook said.

The RHQ campaign was coordinated jointly by the Department of Industry, Science and Technology, and Austrade.
