ARTC Board Appointments

Federal Cabinet has approved two new appointments to the Board of the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC), the wholly government owned company that manages the nation's interstate rail network.

With the company about to hold its annual board meeting in Canberra I can today confirm that Ms Pamela Catty and Mr Barry Cotter have been appointed as directors for 2 year terms ending in March 2013.

Both individuals bring with them a wealth of experience and are joining the ARTC at a critical stage in its ongoing development as one of the nation's premier infrastructure providers.

The organisation is currently mid way through delivering a capital works program which once completed will transform the interstate rail network, significantly improving its reliability and efficiency.

I congratulate the new board members and have every faith they will further strengthen the ARTC's management team as well as assist in driving forward the Gillard Labor Government's ambitious agenda for rail.

Modernisation of the interstate freight rail network is central to our broader efforts to lift national productivity, curb harmful carbon emissions and take the pressure off the nation's highways.
