The Department of Education and Science announced today that the Waramanga Primary School would come into use on Monday, 10 August,

Waramanga is the first school to be occupied in the Weston Creek district° To enable the children to have their own identity, pending the completion of their school, the Principal, Mr Russell Mears, and his staff were appointed at the beginning of the year and the school

established in the Farrer Primary School, Waramanga started the year with about 80 children but about 220 will move into the new buildings on Monday. The school is designed for 525 pupils

A second Weston Creek primary school at Weston will be ready for occupation in 1971. Primary schools at Fisher and Rivett and the Weston Creek High School will be occupied at the beginning of the 1972 school year,

The design of the Waramanga Primary school represents a new departure from the conventional school of recent years, Emphasis is placed on compactness by the central location of the general purpose room, the library and the administration block. Advantage has been taken

of the layout to create courtyard areas which will be associated with the classrooms, Two tutorial classrooms are included for special class teaching and operable walls are provided between several of the classrooms to give greater flexibility in the use of classroom accommodation.

The separate medical—dental block with its facilities for health services for children from both independent and departmental schools is a feature of the facilities provided at the new school,
