German government scholarships 1971-72

The Department of Education and Science, Canberra has announced that a number of scholarships for Australian students and graduates are being made available by the German Academic Exchange Service. Of these scholarships two are reserved for

students of fine arts and music.

Graduate applicants should possess a good honours de-gree and applications should have a reasonable knowledge of the German language. However, highly qualified applicants in fields other than Germanic studies, with little, or no knowledge of German, may be awarded an additional scholarship to attend an intensive language course in Germany. The scholarships are open to students between 18 and 32 years of age in all subjects ex-cept pharmacy and chemical engineering.

Scholarship benefits include tax free allowances rang-ing from $Al20 per month (according to age and experience), return air or ship fare, luggage allowance, book allowance, exemption from enrolment, examination and tuition fees together with health and accident insurance.

Application forms may be obtained from the Secretary, Department of Education and Science, P.O. Box 826, Canberra City, A.C.T. 2601.

Intending applicants should note that the closing date for the receipt of applications at the Department is 22 June 1970.
