Finnish government scholarships

The Department of Education and Science has advised that the Finnish Government is offering postgraduate scholarships and postdoctoral grants to Australians for study in Finland of aspects of Finnish

culture eg.. Finnish language and literature, history, archaeology and folk-lore.

The duration of the scholarships is from four to eight months and they are tenable from 10 September 1970 or 10 January 1971. The postdoctoral grants are tenable for 4-8 weeks and may be taken up at any time.

Each type of award provides for a maintenance allowance, free tuition for approved courses, fares for approved study tours within Finland, and assistance with accommodation.. No provision however is made for

dependants or the cost of travel to and from Finland.

Application forms and further information may be obtained from the Secretary, Department of Education and Science, P.O. Box 826, Canberra City, A.C.T„ 2601. Completed forms for postgraduate

scholarships should be returned to the Department by 10 April 1970
