Statement by the Minister for Civil Aviation, The Hon. Robert Cotton.

Jetair Australia Ltd. has been gi npermission to operate air services linking Melbourne with Sale, Bairnsdale, Mallacoota

and Mermerimbulao Announcing this today,, the Minister for Civil Aviation,

Senator Robert Cotton, said Jetair would operate the services by virtue of an exemption given under sir ;avigation Regulation

203. Under this Exemption a charter operator is permitted to

fly fare paying passengers between these destinations to a

fixed and published timetable

Senator Cotton said Jetair Services would replace those previously operated by Commuter ,irlines who withdraw their services earlier this month. The Government planned to use

He said the Commonwealth Government had received several

applications to operate the services, following Commuters'

withdrawal. Jetair's fares and freight rates would be aLounced soon, but Senator Cotton said the rates would be below those previously applying on the route.

Sale and Barnsdale would receive twice daily services

each i:^onday, Wednesday and Friday and all ports would receive

a daily service on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
