Peter Lindsay to lead Australian delegation.

Member for Herbert, Peter Lindsay MP, will lead an Australian Parliamentary delegation to Laos and Pakistan next week. The delegation will represent Australia at the 26th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Organisation General Assembly. Delegations from all the ASEAN Nations will attend the Assembly. It is expected that issues such as defence, security and counter-terrorism will occupy much of the Assembly’s time. The Australian Parliamentary delegation includes Peter Slipper MP (Queensland), Harry Quick MP (Tasmania), and Senator for Western Australia, Ruth Webber . The programme will include meetings with the Prime Minister of Laos, H.E. Bounnhang Vorachith, the President of Laos, H.E. Khamtay Siphandone, and the President of the Lao National Assembly, H.E. Samane Vignaket. The Pakistan program will include top level meetings with H.E. General Pervez Musharraf, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan H.E. Shaukat Aziz, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mian Khursheed Mahmud Kasuri. The delegation will leave for Laos this weekend.
