$3000 GRANT TO PUBLISH NASHO TALES The Nationals Member for Riverina Kay Hull today announced funding of $3000 for the publication of Nasho Tales, by the National Servicemen’s Association of Australia Wagga Wagga Sub-Branch.

Mrs Hull said the funding was approved under the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service program.

“Nasho Tales will document personal stories, yarns, poems and anecdotes from more than 30 serving members of the Armed Forces conscripted to National Service Training from 1951 to 1959,” Mrs Hull said.

“At present, there is not a similar collection or publication which covers this interesting period in our history.

“This project will ensure younger generations are reminded of the contribution made by those who served Australia as National Servicemen.

“The National Servicemen’s Association of Australia Wagga Wagga Sub-branch is to be congratulated on its initiative and I thank the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs De-Anne Kelly for her support.

“Saluting Their Service encourages the community to remember and honour the contribution made by Australians who have served in wars, conflicts and peace operations since Federation.”

Saluting Their Service projects have included the restoration and construction of community war memorials, displays of wartime memorabilia and commemoration of significant wartime anniversaries.
