Windsor seeks meeting to find solution to retirement village issue

Independent Member for New England, Tony Windsor, has today written to the Independent Chairman of MFS Limited, the Hon Andrew Peacock, and the Executive Managing Director of MFS Limited, Mr Philip Adams, regarding the plight of retirement village residents in Tamworth affected by the decision of the company Village Life Ltd to discontinue the management of the villages owned by MFS Diversified.

Mr Windsor has sought the participation of MFS Limited representatives in a meeting he is proposing to organise involving the State Member for Tamworth, Peter Draper, representatives of Village Life Ltd and himself in an endeavour to find a solution to this issue.

Mr Windsor said he has highlighted the distress which the potential loss of accommodation is causing to the many elderly residents affected by this issue and has sought an urgent response from Mr Peacock and Mr Adams.

“This issue is affecting some of the most vulnerable members of our community and I will be doing everything I can to help find and expedite a solution to this distressing issue,” Mr Windsor said.

Mr Windsor said that the extraordinary situation had developed where MFS and Village Life were blaming each other for the debacle but neither appeared to be focussing on a solution.

“Everyone is saying how they feel for the residents, now is the time to put those people first, not corporate greed,” he said.

“Lets get all the players in a room to deliver a solution,” Mr Windsor said.
