Western Victoria has recently had a huge boost in funding of natural resource management according to The Nationals Federal Member for Mallee, John Forrest MP.

This funding is made possible through the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality and the Natural Heritage Trust and is administered through the Catchment Management Authorities in the region.

The amounts allocated are as follows:

Mallee CMA $16.72m

Wimmera CMA $11.49m

North Central CMA $16.69m

Glenelg Hopkins CMA $11.52m

TOTAL $56.42m

This funding is to be used for a wide variety of environmental projects from weeds and rabbit irradiation, the protection of groundwater sources, water quality management, sustainable land management, land care, flora and fauna protection, erosion control and river health.

Mr Forrest paid tribute to the huge number of hard working people across Western Victoria who work so hard to make the attraction of this level of funding possible.

“$56 million is a huge boost to Western Victoria,” he said.
