"Green" Brown keen to meet US Ambassador

Monday, 28 August 2006

Greens Leader Bob Brown welcomed new US Ambassador Robert McCallum's intentions "to reach out to a broad spectrum of different political parties" and said he was looking forward to meeting Mr McCallum.

"I hold the American people in high regard, though I don't see eye-to-eye with the Bush administration, and I'm very much looking forward to visiting San Francisco in October," said Senator Brown.

"I am keen to meet Ambassador McCallum and I'll be inviting him to visit Tasmania."

"And I will certainly be frank about the illegal incarceration of Australian citizen David Hicks and the need for him to be brought home to face Australian justice," Senator Brown said.
