MEDIA RELEASE MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS THE HON STEPHEN SMITH, MP

FA 024 5 February 2008

AUSTRALIA CONDEMNS SUICIDE ATTACK IN DIMONA

The Australian Government strongly condemns the suicide bombing in Dimona in Southern Israel on 4 February, in which three people have been reported killed and 11 wounded.

Australia condemns such violence against innocent civilians. I extend my deepest sympathy to the families of the victims.

Such terrorist attacks seek to undermine the peace process. It is important that all parties to remain focused on negotiations, which offer the only viable hope for a peaceful and just resolution to the conflict.
