Bob Baldwin MP

Federal Member for Paterson

15 July 2003

The Federal Member for Paterson, Bob Baldwin, today welcomed reports that the Department of Local Government and ICAC had cleared him of allegations in relation to works on his Nelson Bay property.

A report in the Newcastle Herald today, quotes a spokeswoman for the Local Government Minister as saying that they had found ‘nothing of substance in the information provided to the department…so it won’t be pursued’.

“I have always said that I welcome any investigation into the building of my own home and actions at Port Stephens Council and comments from the Local Government Minister’s office show that I have done nothing wrong,” Mr Baldwin said.

“I do find it very interesting however, that I have never been notified that there was an investigation going on in the first place and no-one has contacted me to say an investigation has cleared me of any wrongdoing. I have to read all about it in the paper.

“Nevertheless, I welcome the comments from the office of the Minister for Local Government which confirm that I have done nothing wrong.”
