$3983 Grant for New War Memorial at Kiata The Kiata Cemetery Trust will erect a new war memorial in Kiata with the help of a $3983 grant under the Australian Government’s commemorations programme, ‘Saluting Their Service’.

The Federal Member for Mallee, John Forrest welcomed the funding announcement by the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Dana Vale.

“Saluting Their Service encourages the community to remember and honour the contribution made by Australians who have served in wars, conflicts and peace operations since Federation,” Mr Forrest said.

“The new war memorial will be erected at the Kiata Cemetery which is located in the corner of a flora and fauna reserve and will provide a fitting site for a new memorial.”

“The Kiata Cemetery Trust is to be congratulated on its initiative and I am pleased the Minister has been able to lend the Government’s support,” said Mr Forrest.
