Joanna Gash MP Member for Gilmore 17 February 2006 MOSS VALE SECURES NEW WORK FOR THE DOLE

Member for Gilmore Joanna Gash today announced nine new Work for the Dole projects in the electorate, including a significant undertaking in Moss Vale.

The Moss Vale project will give nine unemployed people the chance to take part in the development of a community centre by undertaking tasks that include landscaping and building maintenance.

"The new projects further underline the commitment to improving the circumstances of job seekers in our region," Mrs Gash said.

"The job seekers involved in these projects and their local communities benefit from Work for the Dole projects.

"Participants in Work for the Dole activities are improving their prospects of finding a job and they are re-building their self esteem and work skills.

"It's a Mutual Obligation initiative which gives job seekers the opportunity to actively participate in maintaining contact with the world of work.

"I congratulate Gilmore's Community Work Coordinators and project sponsors who have successfully proposed these very worthwhile projects.

"They are doing a great job in bringing benefits to our region's unemployed people and to our local communities."
