John Forrest, The Nationals Federal Member for Mallee has welcomed the announcement by Minister for Community Services, the Hon John Cobb that an additional $42,000 in funding under the Business Service Assistance Programme will be provided to Woodbine Incorporated.

Mr Forrest said that Woodbine Incorporated will use the grant to assist Woodbine to upgrade their IT and Financial Systems. This follows on from the $70,000 in funding already provided to assist in implementing their Recommended Business Strategy,” Mr Forrest said.

The 36 supported employees from Woodbine are involved in a number of Business Service operations including gardening, cleaning and Laundromat operations.

Mr Ric Walsh, CEO of Woodbine Inc welcomed the funding. “This is fantastic news and will enable us to implement our business strategies,” said Mr Walsh.

Mr Forrest said a key priority of the Australian Government is to build a more sustainable disability business service sector that plays a critical role in helping people with disabilities to participate in the community and provide employment and support for workers and their families.

“We are committed to working closely with the community sector, businesses and individuals to ensure that people with disabilities achieve real gains and get the help they need to participate in work and the community,” said Mr Forrest.
