Press Release Ref: 521 Published: 17/10/2001 Title: $250,000 AGED CARE GRANT TO BANKSIA VILLAGE

Gary Nairn, member for Eden-Monaro announced today that the Commonwealth Government had approved a restructuring grant of $250,000 to Banksia Village aged care home at Broulee to assist it in financing the cost of restructuring the home.

“Earlier this year, Banksia Village successfully applied for 10 additional high care and 25 low care places following the annual Aged Care Approvals Round.” Mr Nairn said.

“I am confident that the grant will enable Banksia Village to proceed with the structural changes to the home so that the new beds can open as quickly as possible.

“The additional beds will almost double the size of the home from 32 to 57 beds.” Mr Nairn said. “Funding for the care of residents in the new beds is guaranteed, once they are operational.”

“The grant is further proof of the Coalition Government’s commitment to meeting the aged care

needs of people in Eden Monaro,” Gary Nairn concluded.
