NEWCASTLE DEFENCE AND INDUSTRY BRIEFING Newcastle companies, interested in doing business with Defence will attend a Defence and Industry one-day briefing on Friday. (26 th July)

It’s part of a number of briefings around Australia designed to make doing business with Defence easier and more people friendly.

It follows a major three-day Defence and Industry Conference in Canberra last month, attended by more than fourteen hundred delegates.

Conference Organiser, Edwin HO said today it gives people who were unable to take part in the Canberra program, the opportunity to meet defence officials, to investigate local business opportunities.

"The Newcastle region is a strong area for Defence both in workforce personnel and Defence Industry.

"ADI was recently awarded the $32 million contract to design and construct six Amphibious Watercraft in Newcastle for the Australian Army and it’s clear Defence Industry has a significant presence in the Hunter".

The Newcastle briefings will be held at the West’s Leagues Club in Hobart Road New Lampton commencing at 8.15 a.m.

It will feature a number of sessions including Undertaking Business with Defence, Corporate Services and Infrastructure and Maritime Procurements.

Another session deals with Aerospace Procurements, especially impacts on the Williamtown area.

Also taking part will be the N.S.W. Department of Public Works and Services, covering opportunities to supply the State Government and the Hunter Business Chamber-Defence Industry Committee on current activities in the region.
