Parliament House Canberra ACT 2600 Ph: 02 6277 2102 Fax: 02 6277 8497

Gillard must condemn threats to jobs Acting Prime Minister Julia Gillard must condemn the behaviour of Labor MP Belinda Neal, who has been accused of threatening the jobs of staff at a club in her electorate.

Last year, when Deputy Opposition Leader, Ms Gillard was vocal in her condemnation of employers whom she claimed had not treated staff with appropriate respect.

The Acting Prime Minister’s deafening silence about this appalling incident reveals the depth of her hypocrisy with regard to the rights of people at work.

I call on Julia Gillard to condemn this type of unacceptable behaviour of one her Labor colleagues.

I also call on her to reassure the staff at Gosford’s Iguanas Waterfront club that their jobs are not at risk from the threatening behaviour of Federal Labor Members of Parliament.
