UPGRADE OF CAREY BAPTIST COLLEGE PLANNED FOR 2006 SCHOOL YEAR MEDIA RELEASE Friday, 15 December 2006 [?Thursday, 15 December 2005]

Students and staff at Carey Baptist College will enjoy a range of improvements at their school next year with the assistance of an Australian Government grant of $200,000, Canning MHR Don Randall announced today.

Mr Randall said the grant would assist the school construct five science laboratories, a multi purpose room, staff office, store room and science preparation area.

The grant would also enable the school to purchase furniture and pay site development services and fees.

The funding, allocated under the Department of Education Science and Training, Capital Grants Programme, is designed to improve the educational outcomes of students by providing them with the best possible learning environment.

“The Australian Government is committed to developing and maintaining infrastructure at both government and non-government schools, said Mr Randall.

“Carey Baptist College becomes the 16th school in the Canning electorate to receive funding for important infrastructure projects this financial year.

Mr Randall said he looked forward to visiting the school next year to view and open the new facilities.
