The Australian Greens have welcomed the Australian Council of Social Services plans for ‘green job creation.'

"It certainly echoes the Greens' plans for creating Australia's future green economy and safeguarding our

environment," said the Greens Housing Spokesperson, Senator Scott Ludlam.

Last week Senator Ludlam called for the government to green-up the construction and building industry to create

thousands of new jobs.

"We've been calling for the federal government to cover up-front costs of energy efficiency upgrades for home

owners. This would create thousands of new jobs in building and construction and reduce electricity expenses for

home owners."

"With business and the community sector united in their push for innovative job creation, it's time for the

government to recognise its important role. By creating green jobs, the government can reshape Australia's

economy and lock in future prosperity," concluded Senator Ludlam.
