Senator MURPHY (New South WalesAttorneyGeneral) - We were dealing only with the first amendment. 1 think the sensible course would probably be that which was suggested by Senator Missen. If we are to postpone consideration of one definition we might as well postpone the consideration of the whole of the definition clause.

Senator SirKENNETH ANDERSON (New South Wales) ( 12.38)- I understand the points which the Leader of the Government in the Senate (Senator Murphy) has made. I have an amendment which relates to the definition of marriage. I would have thought that it was of the essence that it be put to the test. If it is defeated, it may have some bearing on what I do subsequently.
