Senator MISSEN (VICTORIA) - My question is directed to the Minister representing the Minister for Labor and Immigration. When an unemployed person is accepted as eligible for retraining under the National Employment and Training Scheme, known as NEAT, does his or her name continue to be included in the Government's unemployment statistics or is it then removed?

Senator BISHOP - As I understand the position, once a person takes part in the scheme he is not classed as unemployed. Consequently, his name would be removed from the statistics which are prepared by the Department.
