Senator WITHERS (Western Australia) (Leader of the Opposition) - The Opposition is not opposed to this Bill. Basically it includes the academics in the purview of the Remuneration Tribunal and it has some tidying up machinery provisions. It does not affect parliamentarians in any way, as I understand it. It is to bring in the academics. It takes out trade commissioners. It sorts out the list. It is mainly a Bill of a technical character, apart from putting academics ' salaries within this whole range. The Opposition wishes it a speedy passage.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Bill read second time, and passed through its remaining stages without amendment or debate.
