Senator Withers asked the Minister representing the Minister for Education, upon notice:

(   1 ) What immediate steps have been taken to overcome the crowding that exists in the Weetangera Primary School, in the Australian Capital Territory.

(2)   For how long will the proposed solution alleviate the problem.

Senator Douglas McClelland (NEW SOUTH WALES) (Minister for the Media) - The Minister for Education has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

(   1 ) Open learning accommodation has been erected and became available on 2 1 March 1974.

(2)   In addition to the open learning accommodation which was occupied in March 1974, further additional accommodation was supplied in June and July 1974. Four permanent classrooms are due for completion by the beginning of 1975. It is believed that the school has the capacity to cope with enrolments until the proposed primary school for Hawker becomes available in 1976.
