Senator MURPHY (New South Wales) (Attorney-General and Minister for Customs and Excise) b y leave—M r President, you will appreciate, as I think do all honourable senators, what has happened. A Government measure has been introduced and has been altered significantly in the Senate. Half the proposal contained in the Bill has been taken out. Of course, the Government wants the part that remains. It lso wants the other part. The Bill will go back to the House of Representatives. The Government will determine whether the Bill in this form is acceptable or whether it should insist on the Bill as it was introduced. That is why I indicated to honourable senators that I moved the motion for the third reading in order that the Bill might take its proper course, go back to the House of Representatives and be considered by the Government in the light ofthe Senate's action.
