Senator DEVITT (TASMANIA) - Can the Minister for Repatriation say what progress has been made in the preparation of regulations under the Repatriation Act which are required to give effect to the Government's recent decision to supply reasons for rejection of appeals to repatriation tribunals? Will the Minister ensure that this right becomes available to every appellant if he so requests or if his advocate makes such a request on his behalf?

Senator BISHOP -The decision of the Government to carry this out has been reported to the Senate. It has been necessary that certain trials of the preliminary arrangements made be worked out between the Department and the various tribunals. That has been done. As to the current position, I will get a full report for Senator Devitt so that he and the Senate can be brought up to date on the operation of this new system.
