Senator TURNBULL (TASMANIA) - I ask the Minister representing the Minister for Civil Aviation: Will the Australian Government allow Qantas Airways Ltd to accept the increase of 6 per cent in air fares suggested by the International Air Transport Association while still defrauding the Australian travelling public to the extent of 25 per cent? Why does the Government allow Qantas to remain a member of IATA?

Senator CAVANAGH -The answer to the question is yes, it is permitted so to do. We deprecate the use of the words 'defrauding the Australian travelling public'.
