Senator Keeffe asked the Attorney-General, upon notice:

(   1 ) Will the Attorney-General inform the Parliament of the general principles which apply when South African police or military personnel desire to visit Australia.

(2)   Is it a fact that the head of the South African External Police will be in Melbourne on Thursday, 27 September 1973; if so, has a meeting been arranged between that official and Mr P. Barbour of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation.

Senator Murphy - The answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

(   1 ) and (2) Neither ASIO nor the Commonwealth Police have any knowledge of the matters referred to in this question.
