Senator Webster asked the Minister for Primary Industry, upon notice:

(   1 ) Did the Australian Labor Party receive the benefit of a contribution to campaign funds by a margarine manufacturing company.

(2)   Did one such company contribute to the payment of an account for the cost of Labor election campaign publicity.

(3)   Why was it that a margarine manufacturing company was given preference in the granting of a manufacturing licence in the Australian Capital Territory.

(4)   Did the contributions to party funds influence, in any way, the Labor Government's decision in the granting of such licence.

Senator Cavanagh - The Minister for Primary Industry has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question: ( 1 ), (2) and (4) No pan of these questions relates to matters coming within my portfolio.

(3)   A decision on the granting of a licence to manufacture margarine in the Australian Capital Territory was one for the Minister for Capital Territory.
