Senator WILLESEE - I ask the Minister representing the Minister for Foreign Affairs: Has the Australian Government participated in any of the diplomatic initiatives which have tried to persuade General

Amin to alter his decision , to expel all Asians at present living in Uganda? Does the Government have any proposals for action to persuade the Ugandan Government to desist from or delay proceeding with its expulsion orders?

Senator WRIGHT (TASMANIA) (Minister for Works) - I atn able, to inform the honourable senator that the matter is under the current attention of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Immigration. It is a matter which is developing from period to period, and therefore it is appropriate that I refer the question to the Minister for an answer from him.
