Senator Douglas McClelland (NEW SOUTH WALES) asked the Minister representing the Treas urer, upon notice:

Since television commenced in Australia, what is the total amount remitted abroad for the purchase of programme material to (a) sterling areas, and (b) non-sterling areas.

Senator Sir KENNETH ANDERSON - The Treasurer has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

The Reserve Bank has advised that the following table shows allocations of overseas exchange which have been authorised for purchases and rentals of television programme material since television commenced operating. The Bank's records do not show separate figures for purchases and rentals.
