Senator NEEDHAM (Western Australia) . - I am anxious to know whether it is the intention of the VicePresident of the Executive Council to recommit the schedule for the purpose of reconsidering sub-paragraph (a) of the proviso to paragraph 1 of the schedule. This reads -

Provided that -

(a)   if the incapacity lasts less than two weeks no compensation shall be payable in respect of the first week.

That, it seems to me, is in conflict with clause 5 of the Bill, and under that proviso I contend that a seaman would not even get one week's compensation allowance.

Senator de Largie - We have passed that part of the schedule.

Senator NEEDHAM - I am aware of that; but I desire that the Vice-President of the Executive Council should undertake to recommit that part of the schedule before I am asked to consent to the passage of the schedule.
